The notice of strike filed by the PNB GENERAL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION – PTGWO against PNB GENERAL INSURERS COMPANY, INC., has been settled, NCMB Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual announced recently.

Pascual, citing a report from Director Teresita E. Audea, said that the Union filed the notice of strike against the company on 20 April 2016 on account of bargaining deadlock.

They agreed to close negotiations for their Collective Bargaining Agreement on 08 July 2016 following series of conciliation-mediation efforts at RCMB-NCR.

“This agreement shows that negotiation and dialogue is still better than litigation,” Pascual added. Parties are both in win-win situation.

The agreement provides among others, wage increase of Php 300.00/month for the first year, Php 400.00/month for the second year and Php 500.00/month for the third year.

Other benefits include annual social allowance of Php 5, 000.00, PGEA Christmas Party of Php 5, 000.00 and union educational fund of Php 50, 000.00.

In addition to their benefits, each union member who shall sign and ratify the CBA shall receive one time goodwill in the amount of Php 1, 000.00.

The estimated economic package amounts to Php 12, 000, 000.00 covering more less 220 employees.

According to Director Audea, the tense situations characterized by the parties’ different stand marred the delay in the early settlement of this case. The handling Con-med, however, gave her best efforts to convince them to settle.  Luckily, parties agreed to settle and went back together to their office pleased.

Pascual commended the efforts of Con-Med Estelita S. Bautista in facilitating the settlement of the case and ensuring that harmonious workplace relations is preserved and trust and respect among parties continued.
