Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region Director Teresita E. Audea announced today the settlement of a Notice to Arbitrate filed by a fitter from San Miguel, Bulacan.

Emmanuel M. Santos filed the case on June 13, 2016 against Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., citing disability benefits, illness allowance, reimbursement of medical expenses, damages and Attorney’s fees.

Following the effective conciliation efforts of Con-Med George R. Ridad, the manning agency agreed to pay him the amount of P 2, 891,187.00 as full settlement of his claims on July 27, 2016.

Santos was repatriated due to alleged ailment after working on board M/V “BOTTIGLIERI SOPHIE GREEN”, and sought the Branch assistance after the grievance proceedings between him and his manning agency failed.

Santos expressed his gratitude to the Branch and Con-Med Ridad for extending valuable assistance in resolving his complaint.

Audea commended Con-Med Ridad for facilitating the settlement of this case.

Santos held the position of a fitter until his repatriation to the Philippines sometime this year due to alleged illness.

Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. is a POEA licensed maritime personnel provider.
