This is what exactly happened to the labor dispute between Antonio A. Cabidog, a bosun and Alpha Shipmanagement Corporation after they have settled the case on March 31, 2016, Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board- NCR Director Teresita E. Audea announced recently.

On October 21, 2015, Mr. Cabidog filed a Notice to Arbitrate case against the said manning agency seeking payment of total and permanent disability claim.

The case was assigned to Con-Med Helena R. Flores who made several conferences with the parties to convince them to settle. Instead, parties opted to submit to voluntary arbitration the issues on February 23, 2016.

While the parties are still considering who to select as VA, they did not stop from negotiating. Hence, on March 31, 2106, the parties have agreed to amicably settle.  The manning agency paid him the amount of P 3.9 M.

“Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat kay Con-Med Flores dahil talaga naman po na mas maayos pa rin ang kasunduan kaysa sa isang desisyon mula sa voluntary arbitrators,” Cabidog said.

“Hindi ka pa sigurado kung mananalo ka sa kaso o hindi at kung hanggang kalian ka maghihintay na matapos ito,” he added.

Director Audea commended Con-Med Flores for leading the parties to explore options for the settlement of the case even after the submission to VA.
